Pinewoods Financial Aid

There are multiple sources of financial assistance for Scottish Sessions at Pinewoods:

Kitchen Work Exchange

In exchange for helping out as a dishwasher after meals, recipients will receive a 50% reduction in their attendance fees. To apply, check the appropriate box on your Pinewoods application form (coming in January). Work exchange decisions will be made by co-chairs for Scottish Sessions I and II.

NGI Scholarships

The New Generation Initiative committee provides full scholarships for two young campers, between the ages of 18 and 30, per session. NGI scholarships are preferentially awarded to first-timers or relative newcomers who exhibit financial need, leadership potential, raw talent, and/or eagerness to participate, but any young dancer may apply. Recipients will be expected to submit a letter of thanks or short essay after the event, which will be published on the NGI web site.

Co-chairs will award the Scottish Session NGI scholarships. Please contact them if you would like to sponsor a candidate.

SDCEA Scholarships

The Scottish Dance and Cultural Association of Boston (SDCEA) administers several scholarship funds which can provide funding for Pinewoods:

The Boston Branch Scholarship Fund and the Marianne Taylor Pinewoods Fund are available only to Boston Branch members. Members and non-members alike are invited to apply to the Ed Rawson Fund.

See the Fund Descriptions page for further details on eligibility and contact information. To apply, fill out the Scholarship Application Form and mail it to the address on the form. Recipients will be expected to submit a report of their activities to SDCEA after the event. All SDCEA scholarships are awarded at the discretion of SDCEA.

If you are interested in contributing to the SDCEA scholarship funds, please use the donation form. The SDCEA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Gifts made to the SDCEA are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

CDS Boston Centre scholarships

For English-Scottish-Contra Session, CDS Boston may provide partial scholarship assistance.
